Planning Team Leader

We are recruiting for a Planning Team Leader to help drive the success of our rapidly growing team.

Main purposes of job

You will be responsible for managing our planning programme across the business, ensuring all projects are treated as priority and have the sufficient teams in place for delivery targets. You will assist with the planning of daily civils tasks and activities, ensure planners are carrying out their workload efficiently and effectively as well as resolving escalations and planning related changes.

Key Tasks

  • Daily management of the planning programme across the business. Ensuring all projects are treated as priority & have the sufficient teams in place for delivery targets. 
  • Assisting with the planning of daily civils tasks & activities across multiple exchanges where required. 
  • Ensuring planners are carrying out their workload efficiently & effectively. Intervening if needed to make any necessary changes & implement new working practices.  
  • Resolving escalations & planning related changes. 
  • Ensuring all works comply with Openreach & PIA standards, reviewing designs & ensuring they comply with engineering standards. 
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, team members & field staff daily, to ensure the smooth running of the project in-line with delivery plans. Chairing meetings if & when required to discuss issues & forward planning. 
  • Working alongside the street works & TM departments to ensure the smooth running of planned works. 
  • Maintaining good relations with engineers across all projects, creating a respectable working environment.  
  • Ensuring all measures are logged within the correct timeframe & that weekly reviews are undertaken before issuing to engineers/subcontractors.  
  • Have commercial accountability, ensuring costs are aligned with each projects P&L, DFE’s are accounted for to maximise on company profit. 
  • ADHOC duties will be required.  
  • Ensuring all work outside of working hours/ days is proactively managed and all processes are followed. 
  • Reporting daily to the Operations Support Manager on the progress of works & escalating issues which may pose a threat to delivery.

Desired Experience / Must Haves

  • A strong understanding of both Openreach & PIA networks, to include flex & civils. 
  • Understanding of NRSWA & the ability to raise & understand Streetworks permits/notices, wayleaves & Streetworks regulations.  
  • Ability to train & mentor team members. 
  • Understanding of risk management in telecoms planning. 
  • Commercial experience to include the DFE process, invoicing, processing timesheets & engineer wages. 
  • Be self-sufficient, with the capability to make appropriate decisions under pressure. 
  • The ability to maintain strong team, client & customer relations. 
  • A good communicator with a flexible & positive attitude.
